Terms of Service
Acceptance of these terms
These terms are a plain-language agreement between you and T&A Software Solutions covering everything we make available to you — our websites, our Discord bots, and DisCommish in particular.
By visiting tasoftwaresolutions.org, adding one of our bots to a Discord server, or using any feature we offer, you agree to the terms on this page. If you are accepting on behalf of a league, a server, or an organization, you confirm that you have the authority to bind that group to these terms, and "you" then refers to both you personally and the group you represent.
We have tried to keep the language readable rather than burying the important parts in legalese, but this is still a binding agreement. If there is anything here you do not agree with, the simplest answer is not to use the service. Inviting a bot, clicking through a setup flow, or running a command all count as accepting these terms, and they apply every time you use the service — not just the first time.
We may publish additional rules or guidelines for specific features. Where we do, those rules sit alongside these terms and form part of the same agreement. If an additional rule ever directly contradicts something written here, the more specific rule wins for that feature.
The service
"The service" means our websites and our Discord bots, including DisCommish — a bot that runs fantasy, dynasty, and franchise sports leagues directly inside Discord. DisCommish handles the busywork a commissioner would otherwise do by hand: tracking who is ready to advance (RTA), advancing the week automatically once everyone checks in, posting live standings and schedules, sending smart reminders, and serving up a little good-natured trash talk along the way.
We offer the service free of charge unless we clearly say otherwise. If we ever introduce a paid tier or a premium feature, we will label it plainly and you will never be charged for something without first agreeing to it. Free features may carry reasonable limits — for example on how often a command can run — so the bot stays responsive for everyone sharing it.
The service is provided "as is." We build it carefully and run it in good faith, but it is a tool for running a hobby league, not critical infrastructure. Treat scores, standings, deadlines, and reminders as a helpful convenience rather than the official record. For anything that really matters to your league, keep your own copy and confirm the important details yourself.
We are constantly improving the service, which means features can look and behave differently over time. We may add capabilities, retire ones that few people use, or change how something works to make it faster or more reliable. None of that changes the basic deal: you get a useful bot, and we get to keep making it better.
Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use the service, and old enough in your country to use Discord, since some places set the minimum higher. By using the service you confirm that you meet this requirement.
Because everything we offer runs on or alongside Discord, you also need a Discord account in good standing and you must comply with Discord's Terms of Service and Community Guidelines at all times. If your Discord account is suspended or terminated, your access to our bots goes with it. Keeping your account in good standing is your responsibility, not ours.
If you do not meet these requirements, please do not use the service. Server owners and admins who invite our bots are responsible for making sure the people using the bot in their community meet them too.
Acceptable use
We want the service to stay fast, fair, and friendly for every league that uses it. To keep it that way, please don't:
- Abuse, harass, threaten, or impersonate anyone, or use the service to send spam, hateful content, or anything that targets another person.
- Use the service for any unlawful purpose, or to help anyone else break the law.
- Disrupt, overload, or attempt to overwhelm the bot or our infrastructure — including hammering commands, flooding requests, or running automated scripts designed to strain the service.
- Probe, scan, or interfere with our systems, or try to bypass rate limits, access controls, or other protections we put in place.
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or otherwise try to extract the source code or underlying logic of our bots or websites, except where the law expressly allows it.
- Resell, rent, sublicense, white-label, or commercially redistribute the service or access to it without our written permission.
- Use the service to collect data about other users beyond what the bot is plainly designed to show, or in any way that violates their privacy.
This list covers the big ones, but the spirit matters more than the letter: don't use the service in a way that harms other people, damages the service, or makes it worse for the leagues sharing it with you. If we believe you are doing any of these things, we may limit, suspend, or remove your access without notice.
Availability & changes
We work hard to keep the service online and responsive, but we do not promise any particular level of uptime. The service depends on third parties we do not control — most obviously Discord itself, but also hosting providers and network operators — and on the realities of running software that is always being improved. Outages, slowdowns, and occasional hiccups are part of the deal.
We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the service at any time, with or without notice. That includes changing how a feature behaves, pausing the bot for maintenance, sunsetting a command, or retiring a product entirely. Where a change is significant and we reasonably can, we will try to give a heads-up through our channels — but we are not obligated to.
Because the service can change or pause at any time, please don't build your league around the assumption that a specific feature will always exist or always be available exactly when you need it. Keep your own records of anything important, and you will never be caught out by a maintenance window landing on advance night.
Discord
Our bots run on Discord, so your use of them is also governed by Discord's Terms of Service, Community Guidelines, and developer policies. You agree to follow all of them. If those terms and ours ever conflict on something Discord controls, Discord's terms apply to that part.
To be completely clear: T&A Software Solutions is an independent studio. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or otherwise officially connected to Discord Inc. "Discord" is a trademark of Discord Inc., and we use it only to describe where our bots run. Anything that happens on the Discord platform itself — account access, server moderation, message delivery — is between you and Discord, and we have no control over it.
Intellectual property
We own the service. That includes the code behind our bots and websites, the DisCommish name and logo, the T&A Software Solutions brand, our designs, copy, and the look and feel of everything we publish. These are protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws, and using the service does not transfer any of that ownership to you. We grant you a limited, personal, revocable, non-transferable permission to use the service as intended — nothing more.
Your league and your content stay yours. The team names, league rules, banter, settings, and standings you create remain your property. You grant us only the narrow permission we need to operate the service — storing, processing, and displaying that content inside Discord so the bot can do its job. We do not claim ownership of your league, and we will not sell your content or pass it off as our own.
If you send us feedback, ideas, or feature requests, thank you — we love getting them. So that we can act on suggestions freely, you agree we may use that feedback to improve the service without any obligation or payment to you.
Disclaimer of warranties
The service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all implied warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement.
We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free, that scores and standings will always be accurate, that reminders will always arrive on time, or that any defect will be fixed. You use the service at your own discretion and risk, and you are responsible for backing up anything you cannot afford to lose. No advice or information you get from us — in chat, in docs, or anywhere else — creates any warranty not stated here.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, T&A Software Solutions and anyone working with us will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of (or inability to use) the service. That includes lost data, a missed deadline, a botched week advance, lost standings, lost opportunities, or the agony of a league that didn't run the way you hoped.
Where liability cannot be excluded entirely under the law that applies to you, our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us for it in the twelve months before the claim — which, for our free service, is zero. Some places do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you; in that case our liability is limited to the smallest extent the law allows.
Termination
You can stop using the service at any time. The simplest way is to remove the bot from your Discord server — that ends your use straight away, and you do not need to ask our permission or give a reason.
We may suspend or terminate your access to the service, in whole or in part, if you violate these terms, misuse the service, or create risk or possible legal exposure for us or for other users. Where it's reasonable to do so we'll aim to warn you first, but for serious or repeated violations we may act immediately and without notice.
When access ends, the permission we granted you to use the service ends with it. Sections that by their nature should survive — including intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and governing law — continue to apply after termination. For details on what happens to your data when a bot is removed, see our Privacy Policy.
Governing law
These terms and any dispute arising out of or relating to them or the service are governed by the laws of the United States and of the state in which T&A Software Solutions operates, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. You agree that any dispute will be handled in the courts located there, and you submit to their jurisdiction — unless mandatory law in your own country gives you the right to bring a claim somewhere else.
If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, that part is limited or removed to the smallest extent necessary and the rest stays in full force. Our not enforcing a term right away is never a waiver of our right to enforce it later.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time — to reflect new features, to keep up with legal requirements, or simply to make something clearer. When we do, we'll revise the "last updated" date at the top of this page, and for significant changes we'll try to flag them through our usual channels.
Your continued use of the service after an update means you accept the revised terms. If you don't agree with a change, the right move is to stop using the service and remove our bots from your servers. We'd encourage you to check back here now and then so nothing takes you by surprise.
